The "West Virginia Passport Program" is open to fourth- and fifth graders.

The Good News

The Bad News

  • The passport costs $40 + tax
  • You only get one free rental coupon
  • There are blackout dates
  • You have to have a paying adult
  • The resorts can limit validity "due to unforseen circumstances." (So you have to call ahead.)

(These resorts are trying to do something nice, and here I am being a Grinch. Sorry.)

The Questions

  1. I'm not clear on whether you need one adult per kid, or if one adult can bring multiple kids.
  2. Do you have to be a student/resident in WV? Or can a kid from PA or MD get the passport?
